A Bit of Voting Season Irritation

As I stated earlier, today is the day that I'm casting my first ever Presidential vote and popping the big ballot cherry, if you will.
Though I'm more than excited... something has got me all hot and bothered.

I believe it is absolutely ridiculous that the university I attend (Texas State University) only has early voting on campus at our student center for 4 days of the two weeks that early voting is available.  Are they trying to block a large amount of, presumably, Democratic voters?  Many students that would take advantage of the opportunity that early voting presents but have scheduling conflicts or other obligations for the 4 days that voting is available on campus are less likely to vote because they now have to leave campus and go wait in line for God knows how long at a library or elementary school.  What a drag, right?

Such a drag, in fact, that a segment of the college community will not make the time or effort to take care of a civic responsibility that is so important that some countries have mandatory voting laws, and can even withhold your salary until you do so.
Countries with compulsory voting laws that are enforced are Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Fiji, Turkey, Peru, and others... there are 19 total.  The importance of voting goes all the way back to Athenian democracy.

I guess I'll stop ranting, but it's so aggravating that for an event that the country deems to be so important we can't even get enough support, volunteers, and organization together to open up early voting on large and state funded campuses for the full early voting term.  Again - Ridiculous.

As I Go To Vote... I Have Other Issues On My Mind

Okay, as a female, and as a registered voter, I've had a tough day.
I've been wrestling with the "inner" turmoil of wanting to be held by someone, hot and sweaty from "working out" between the sheets... and this trouble has honestly bothered me more than the issue of who to vote for in this historical Presidential election.  Crazy? - I think not.

For me, the issue is very cut and dry.  If we want war and economic struggles to continue - McCain's the man for the job.... If we want Americans to have their loved ones back from a war that isn't ours, and have a bit more economic security then Obama is the clear choice.
Now, I'm not pretending to know everything there is to know about this year's political race, because I don't, but I know what basic facts and a woman's intuition tell me.
Typically I don't disclose my vote to anyone... it took weeks for me to finally tell my own mother who I voted for in the primaries... but here it is ---> I'm voting for Obama because I think he's just the man for the job, and I can't stand the thought of McCain kicking the bucket and lil miss "maverick" (Palin) being President.  Over my dead body!  I think I'd have to relocate to the great land of the Brits... I'd be gone so fast I wouldn't have time to learn another language... so English it is!

I can't wait to go cast my Presidential ballot for the first time today... I broke my voting cherry with the primaries... and by God I can't wait for a second helping of good ol' fashion American civic duty.
